Facilities Functions and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for fire alarms, intercoms, cameras, card readers, duress, video intercoms, intrusion alarm systems, vape detections, radio systems, fire sprinklers, and fire pumps.

  • Capital Renewal and District-wide Capital are funding streams used to upgrade and repair school systems and complete smaller facilities projects not covered under the Capital Improvement Program.

  • Manages the schedule of new, replacement and renovated facilities based on need and funding.

  • The Custodial Services team of more than 1,200 hard-working employees keeps OCPS facilities clean and inviting.

  • In partnership with the Citizens' Construction Oversight and Value Engineering (COVE) committee, the district is working to ensure that all funds for school facilities are spent wisely and that citizens are kept informed on the progress of construction projects.

  • Responsible for media, public relations, community meetings and social media for Facilities.

  • Handles payroll and purchasing for the department.

  • Works with municipalities and other governmental agencies on behalf of OCPS.

  • Handles outside group use of OCPS facilities.

  • Repairs and maintains district buildings inside and out. This team includes Client Liaisons, who help school sites manage facilities issues.

  • Facilities plans and executes the removal and addition of temporary buildings for use as classrooms, offices, labs and bathrooms.

  • Manages future campus needs and land holdings for OCPS.
