A few notes regarding this report:

    • You must have Skyward “View” access for your school to view the report.  If you do not have the ability to view the report, consult your administrator to complete a Skyward access form.
    • Data is pulled from Skyward nightly.  Edits made to Skyward will not show up in the report on the same day.
    • If you know of a student that should be on the report, but is not showing, go to Skyward to check the coding.  The Homeless tab entry information must have an empty end date, and the school year must be correct with a start date of the first day of school or later.  If you have questions, you can discuss them with your school registrar and/or email helphomeless@ocps.net.
  • Click here to access the Skyward Guide for coding a student as “Homeless” in Skyward.

Click here to access a video demonstration of coding the student in Skyward.

Please note the following when coding:

    • If you have coded a student correctly in Skyward as homeless, a ‘T’ indicator will populate in the top right of the Skyward student profile. If there is no ‘T ’, there is an error in coding!

    • An end date should never be added, even if the student becomes housed.  Students get to keep their MVP rights for the entire school year, even if housed.  At the Year End Processing (YEP), the end date will automatically be populated.

    • The start date for the homeless entry should be the first day of school.  If the SRQ was completed after the first day of school, the date the SRQ was completed should be entered as the start date.

    • For the Unaccompanied Homeless Youth code, you should NEVER code with a Z or C.  You should pick U if the student is an Unaccompanied Homeless Youth or an N if they are NOT an Unaccompanied Homeless Youth.  The code C should only be coded by district MVP staff.  The Z will cause a state reporting error.

    • If the student is MVP due to a natural disaster, please note which natural disaster in the “NOTES” section (Example: Hurricane Maria)

    • If you code a student in error, please email the student ID number to helphomeless@ocps.net and ask for the coding to be deleted and the reason why.  Only our district office team can delete homeless coding in Skyward.
